If you don't have an ice cream maker, don't fret, because where there's a will there's a way. A pretty simple way in this instance. So if you've been dreaming of warm days and cool treats, try making your own sorbet. It won't make the warm days come any faster, but you'll be ready when they get here.
This recipe involves a lot of waiting, but it's simple, very simple, like stick it in a food processor, stick it in a pan, stick it in the freezer simple. You can do this.
Not only is this recipe delicious, but super healthy. I used whole fruit and kefir, which adds a boost of probiotics and protein.
Here's what you'll need:
2 1/2 cups of frozen raspberries and blueberries
1 cup kefir - I used raspberry
1/8 cup simple syrup or honey - I used raspberry simple syrup. Get the recipe here.
Juice from one orange
1 tablespoon of milk or water
Metal bowl - You can also use a metal sauce pan with a lid, or a bread pan with plastic wrap
In a food processor mix berries, kefir, simple syrup and orange juice.
Place the mixture in a metal bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Place in the freezer for 4 hours.
Remove the mixture from the freezer and blend once more in a food processor and add 1 tablespoon of milk or water.
Replace the mixture in the metal bowl and cover for an additional 4 hours inside the freezer.
Before serving remove from the freezer and allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
