Exfoliating Pineapple Face Mask

Whenever I buy a pineapple I always eat the whole thing within a matter of hours of cutting it up. I just can't help myself. Luckily, I don't have to give up much of it to make a super easy, super effective face mask. Pineapple has three specific ingredients that make it good for exfoliating and revealing fresher skin. Those ingredients are bromelain, vitamin C, and alpha-hyroxy acids.

The enzyme bromelain exfoliates and softens skin. It also works as an anti-inflammatory, making it great for acne prone skin.

Vitamin C boosts the collagen production in skin keeping it soft and flexible. This inevitably makes skin look younger.

Alpha-hydroxy acids can improve skin's pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines.

With most masks, but especially pineapple, do a little patch test because it's really strong and can even cause iching. It may cause some irritation on sunburnt or damaged skin.

I combined it with honey which is a natural humectant, and anti-inflammatory which will help mellow out the effects of the pineapple.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of pineapple - blended
  • 1 tablespoon of honey - I like raw honey

  • Mix the two ingredients together and apply them liberally to your face and neck.
  • Leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

This mask comes off really easily. So, you shouldn't need too much scrubbing. Your skin may also be really sensitive afterwards. A warm washcloth should be enough to get it off.

Another thing about this mask is it's delicious. It sounds silly, but I wish I had made sorbet out of these ingredients instead of putting them on my face. I guess it's not too late.
