I'm going camping in two weeks. Look at my honeydew canoe and over-sized paddle to go with it. I feel like I've gone to a whole new level of self-expression. Hey, some good news, before I forget — I got accepted to write for Elite Daily. I'll probably write mostly lifestyle/sentimental stuff. I think it should be pretty fun. Check for me under the Life tab. I mean, if you want. Nooooo pressure.
So, what's a honeydew spritzer? Well, it's sorta like aqua fresco but with San Pellegrino, which makes it a little bit fizzy. You can definitely sub water or carbonated water (or gin) if you prefer. I, however, have a San Pellegrino problem. Now that I learned that a bottle of it has 12% of my daily calcium I'm like, "Look everybody it's cool to pay twice as much for water because it's got calcium. I'm making an educated decision. Just back off okay." (please click for that gif, you won't regret it) I make the same argument about Fiji water and it's silica content.
I just refinished that spoon with my Homemade Food Safe Wood Sealer. You should've seen it before it was that white-ish dried wood color.
Here's what you'll need:
- 1/2 large honeydew - sliced and seeded
- 2 limes - juiced
- limes for garnish - optional
- 1 small cucumber - sliced
- 1 cup San Pellegrino
- 2 cups ice
- Blend honeydew, lime juice, and cucumber in a blender. I didn't skin my cucumber. You can if you want to.
- Strain the mix through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
- Add ice and pellegrino and serve.
It comes out this awesome color and it really doesn't need any sugar, really. Maybe add some honey if you need to. I made some popsicles with honey and honeydew. They're awesome. I'll share them soon. :)
Honeydew has potassium, vitamin C, copper and B vitamins. Potassium has shown to lower blood pressure, which may be why honeydew pops up on those Foods That Keep You Cool lists along with cucumbers. Add in its hefty water content and honeydew is sure to help you beat the heat this summer in the sweetest way.
