Okay, so it's hot as the dickens (What does that even mean? It's so hot I'm not making sense anymore.) here in California, which makes me want to wash my hair every fifteen minutes. So, I put together something that helps me to rehydrate and style my ends while bringing back some of its natural wave. This texture balm is only made of three ingredients castor oil, beeswax, and essential oils.
Castor oil is really great for your hair. My favorite benefit is that when applied to the scalp, it encourages hair growth. It does this by improving circulation and nourishing the hair follicles. It also helps to regrow eyelashes and eyebrows.
Here's what you'll need:
- 2 tablespoons of Beeswax
- 1/2 cup of Castor Oil - I used Home Health
- 10 drops of Vanilla Essential Oil
- 8 drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- Melt beeswax in a double broiler.
- Remove from heat and a mix in castor oil. Stir well
- Place mixture in a dark glass jar. It should set in a matter of minutes to wax texture.
To use for styling: With this texture wax, a little goes along way, a super long way. To use it, I take a 1/2 pea sized amount and rub it between my hands. I apply it from the bottom of my hair up, scrunching to create texture and body.
To use as a growth serum: Apply a generous amount of the wax directly to the scalp and massage in. Cover with a plastic cap and leave on for 30 minutes to overnight. You may need to shampoo twice, or add a teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo to get it out.
