I've got a turkey cooking in a new turkey cooking thing I bought, as we speak. I don't know exactly what it's called, but I love it. It sits on the countertop and does not heat up the whole house. Plus, the cleaning is way easier. So, so glad to have this around. I may not be making a turkey once a week, but an organic chicken, now that may be a weekly task I can handle.
The one big thing I love this week and I think it's kind of run it's internet course, but in case you haven't seen it, the nude photos of all those athletes are amazing. It's just nice to just see people being comfortable in all different body types, shapes, and abilities, in all their glory and whether you find it attractive or not isn't the point. I like that. I think the world could use more of that.
I just hired Robyn at The Aesthetic House to help me with branding as well as slew of other things. This, this is something I desperately need. Desperately. I sat down to write about focus yesterday, and I just couldn't, well, focus. I think I'm at a point where I need a more clearly defined brand. I mean, things will change constantly, but I think a big aversion I have is a fear of commitment. While I've found it's not so bad once you've stuck to it, but just dancing around the idea is where I tend to get stuck. That whole too many options thing that makes you crazy. So, it'll be nice to have the options brought to me and I'll have to pick one. Plus a fresh set of eyes never hurt before. So, I'm getting some help getting a focus. Being forced to describe the impact I want to make will hold me accountable, which is something that makes me endlessly nervous, but I'm taking the first steps.
I've spoken before about branding and I've made significant changes to this blog over and over, but I've never really gotten in quite right. I think I need to respect that some folks have a better understanding certain aspects of design than I do. While I might love taking pictures, writing about my feelings, and sharing all of my ideas. I don't really want to spend all day learning to code my blog. I feel like you can be amazing at 3-4 things or mediocre at 7-8. It's not a hard and fast rule, but the idea is to pick your priorities, whatever they may be.
I also have a project coming up in Santa Barbara with Jennifer over at Out of the Box Collective. I'll be taking pictures and designing recipes. Oh, and I'll also get a chance to pick what goes into the box. So, I'll be in many a'folks kitchens soon. I couldn't be more honored to be part of the growing wellness world, inspiring people to add more and more fresh foods to their plates. Jennifer and I were introduced by Mayumi from Chrysmela, who I will soon be Pinterest tutoring. Who knew that could be a job? I wouldn't mind being a full time Pinterest tutor, but we'll just have to see how well I do at my first pin-gig. I'm sure it'll be great. There are few things I love more than pretty pictures.
I also have a pending photography job over at this PR office in Redondo Beach which I am so excited about. I'll tell you more when I know more, but for now they're sending me some really, really cute stuff from Emi Jay. Really cute.
If that weren't enough, I have an appointment with Lindsey Lewis, who has risen to some notoriety in the health and wellness world through her own work and being pretty regular contributor over on MindBodyGreen. So, I'll let you know what I unfold about myself in that appointment. I am all about personal growth. Either way, I'm super happy to be driving in the right kind of attention over here at The Free Spirited.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I'll be in Willow and Sage again! You might remember I was there before with the Homemade Rosemary Mouthwash. Well, this time they want to use the Rosemary Grapefruit Clarifying Hair Rinse, which is pretty legit if you haven't tried it yet. I recommend it. I mean, I made it up, but I also recommend it.
So, needless to say, there is a whole lot for me to grateful for both personally and professionally. Speaking of professional, I just bought myself a new camera body. I got the Mark II. We'll see how my photography changes as a result. :) I have every confidence in it.
This photo post of Amsterdam is amazing. Usually I've got my head in the clouds thinking of Australia or Bryce Canyon, but Amsterdam looks pretty amazing too. source: de-dujes
This photo series reminds me of all the mid-century California glory that I love. My grandparent's house is decorated just like this. I mean that as a compliment. They've got great taste. source: Taylr Anne
I think I've posted a photo from this series once before, but I just can't get enough of it. I had a sneaking suspicion this was taken in Los Angeles. Really this is my dream downtown LA apartment, big windows, open space, and as most already know, perfect weather. source: Jack Belli
This food photography is extra inspiring to me. It's got sort of that high gloss feel, but without being perfect. Just natural food in all it's glory. I could scroll through this portfolio all day. source: Kimberley Hasslebrink
These adorable pants, appropriately titled Punjammies work double duty not only as comfortable daywear, but they also support and hire the victims of human trafficking. The photography's not bad either. source: Sudara
"Love yourself first." Totally a theme for me these days, in many aspects of life it's important for me to invest in myself. Well, it's important for all of us. source: The Lunatic Daily
Love, mountain tops, blankets, and coffee cups. Seems like a real plan. After we all learn to love ourselves (see left) of course. Also adding this to my photography goal setting roster. source: Gregory Woodman
Emi Jay is sending over some adorable stuff including this sweatshirt. I'll also get some new hair ties, which is awesome because I just destroyed my last one. I was also watching the video on this brand and these young ladies got into business in the 8th grade. I better get my a** in gear. Why is it that when someone else does well, I start thinking about myself? "Comparison is the thief of joy." Teddy Roosevelt said that. Only love, ladies, only love. source: Emi Jay
This makes me laugh: a) because it's a little true for me and b) because it used to be rude and now it's been repurposed. I love to recycle. source: Planet Blue
I've been looking for the perfect white dress, but since I'm not very tall I may have settle for a shorter one, or actually go shopping in person, like out in the world, or I can keep up with my trial and error shopping habits. source: Forever 21
Isn't that the truth? I've been doing a little mind stretching of my own. Nothing drastic, just out of body experiences and the like. No biggie. ;) source: fy-perspectives on tumblr
I feel like this is what I mean when I say I need to focus. I also need to up my yoga practice. I have a phone appointment about that too. I forgot to mention it earlier, but it's also very, very exciting, but more on that when it's more concrete. source: Lululemon
I want this top and those jeans and then I want to wear them both everyday. I also want to be this tall. source: Harper's Bazaar
